If you use the 32-bit Enabler from Apple and experience serious crashes, remove the enabler and switch back to MODE32 (distributed free by Apple and Connectix). The 32-bit enabler is notorious for the problems it causes… (There have been several discussions about this on the net.)
Philippe Giraud and I both experienced crashes which were probably caused by the 32-bit enabler.
It seems I accidentally circumvented a bug in the Speech Manager 1.1.1 which may occure when the MacinTalk Pro voices are installed. I haven't had any problem with it. If you call SP Voice Open using the ”*“ wildcard and get an -241 error, please contact me.
Because of the way I implemented the features of the SP Voice sound function it is very well possible some time is spend converting the sound data to find later that the filepath you passed is invalid in some way. Ofcourse I should test for this before such a long operation, but this is not yet implemented.
The settings window displayed by the SP Pick Voice function is done by the StdTTS extension and since it is experimental some things can go wrong. For example: the Return key nor the Enter key are equivalent to clicking the default OK button.
Using Speech Pack together with 4D Server has some limitations. These are listed with the function descriptions in the Language section of this manual.
